Representatives from Lakewood’s Hispanic and Jewish communities came together this evening for an evening of unity, hosted by Police Chief Greg Meyer.
The Hispanic community got to hear first hand how the many volunteer organizations within the Jewish community operate, and were invited to volunteer as well.
The meeting, held at the Municipal Auditorium, was opened with a prayer, and by longtime Committeeman and community volunteer Meir Lichtenstein.
Lichtenstein explained how beneficial it would be to have volunteers from the Hispanic community, be it for a community event, tragedy or other.
After his introduction, the groups introduced themselves and answered questions about their organizations, and spoke about future events such as these in an effort to bring the communities together.
Police Chief Greg Meyer tells TLS, he was so proud to see all organizations come together in unity.
“Each organization holds a valuable role in our town and it’s important that all communities are aware of the services they provide,” said the Chief.
He added, “I’d like to thank all the organizations that attended, and those from within my department that helped put this event together.”
